Your claims are still being processed as normal for urgent and semi-urgent surgeries and treatments, but we do recognise that the temporary government ban on non-urgent elective surgery, together with social distancing rules, may impair your ability to claim on some of your health insurance benefits right now. Fortunately, thanks to our unique Rollover Benefit you don’t need to worry about losing your Extras benefits - in most cases these will still be there for you when you need to catch up on all the appointments you’re missing right now.
If changes in claiming behaviour caused by COVID-19 results in a reduction of claims expenses incurred by our fund, the savings will help us deliver some form of premium relief to members. We are busy modelling discount options at this very moment, however we won’t be cancelling or deferring our 1 April premium change, as we have already determined that this is not the best way for us to pass on real financial relief to our members. We know speed is of the essence, however it is important we get it right for you the first time and so look forward to communicating more about our support as soon as we’re in a position to do so
Navigating the new COVID-19 world is challenging for everyone, but there are undoubtedly unique stresses being placed on many of our police and emergency services members who are protecting our community from this pandemic from the frontline. Rest assured we are working closely with the Department of Health and our regulators in terms of the seriousness of COVID-19 and will be in a position to communicate more widely with members as we know more. Who can use the Emergency Services App?
